Inside the White Dove Neck: The Carbon Fibre Reinforcement You’ll Never See

Some of the most important work in a guitar is hidden beneath the surface. Inside our new White Dove neck, two carbon-fibre reinforcement rods work alongside the traditional adjustable truss rod to add strength, stiffness and long-term structural support.

What You Don’t See Matters

Some of the most important engineering in a guitar disappears completely once the instrument is finished.

The neck of our new White Dove is one of those places. From the outside, you see the fingerboard, the frets and the finished woodwork. Inside, however, there is another story.

01 · The Traditional Approach

One Adjustable Steel Truss Rod

Traditionally, a guitar neck relies on an adjustable steel truss rod.

Its job is essential. String tension constantly pulls against the neck, while wood naturally responds to humidity, temperature and time. The truss rod allows neck relief to be adjusted so the guitar can be set up correctly as those conditions change.

The White Dove Difference

We decided one structural system did not have to do all the work.

Alongside the traditional adjustable truss rod, the new White Dove neck contains two additional carbon-fibre reinforcement rods.

02 · Additional Reinforcement

Two Carbon-Fibre Rods, Hidden Inside the Neck

The carbon-fibre rods sit alongside the truss rod and become part of the internal structure of the neck.

Once the fingerboard is fitted, these rods disappear completely. Most owners will never see them — but they continue doing their job every time the guitar is played.

03 · Why Carbon Fibre?

High Stiffness Without Unnecessary Weight

Carbon fibre is widely valued in engineering because it can provide very high stiffness while remaining remarkably light.

EXTRA STRUCTURAL STIFFNESS
The rods add longitudinal reinforcement through the neck, helping the wooden structure resist unwanted movement.

VERY LOW WEIGHT
Reinforcement is useful only if it does not make the neck unnecessarily heavy. Carbon fibre offers an excellent stiffness-to-weight ratio.

ADDITIONAL STABILITY
Wood will always remain a natural material, but adding a stable structural reinforcement gives the neck another layer of support.

An Important Distinction

Carbon Fibre Does Not Replace the Truss Rod

The adjustable steel truss rod still has an important job. It allows a technician to fine-tune neck relief during setup and throughout the life of the instrument.

The carbon-fibre rods serve a different purpose. They are passive reinforcement — quietly adding stiffness and structural support around the adjustable system.

The truss rod gives us adjustability.
The carbon fibre gives us additional reinforcement.

The Lindo Approach

Many of the details we care about are hidden from view.

Once this White Dove is assembled, you will not see the two carbon-fibre rods. There is no badge on the outside announcing that they are there.

We use them because we believe the parts you cannot see deserve just as much thought as the parts you can.

The details you cannot see are often the ones doing the most work.

Built for the Years Ahead

Our goal is not to make extravagant claims about a guitar that can somehow ignore physics, climate or the natural behaviour of wood.

Our goal is simpler: use good materials, thoughtful engineering and careful construction wherever we believe they can make the instrument better.
