Lindo Guitar Care Guide
Practical setup, cleaning and maintenance advice to help your guitar stay comfortable, reliable and ready to play.
A guitar is a wooden instrument, so small changes in temperature, humidity, string tension and playing style can affect how it feels over time. Every Lindo guitar is checked and set up before dispatch, but normal seasonal movement, new strings settling in, courier travel and regular playing can all change tuning stability, action and feel.
Quick Care Checklist
Keep it stable
Avoid sudden heat, cold or humidity changes. Do not store your guitar next to radiators, windows, damp walls, hot cars or loft spaces.
Wipe after playing
Use a clean microfibre cloth to remove sweat and oil from the strings, fretboard and hardware after each session.
Change strings regularly
Old strings lose brightness, feel rough, corrode and make tuning less stable. Fresh strings are one of the easiest upgrades.
Store it safely
Use a case or secure guitar stand. Avoid leaning the guitar against walls where it can slide, fall or take a knock.
Watch for changes
Buzzing, high action, tuning issues and rattles often have simple causes, especially after new strings or weather changes.
Ask before forcing adjustments
If you are unsure, contact us before turning the truss rod, filing parts, drilling, gluing or modifying the instrument.
Setup & Playability
Your guitar is set up before dispatch, but setup is not a permanent, fixed state. Wood moves, strings stretch, and different environments can change the action and neck relief. A guitar that plays perfectly in our Bristol workshop may need small adjustments after settling into your home.
Action
Action means the string height above the frets. If it is too high, the guitar can feel stiff. If it is too low, you may hear fret buzz. Action can be affected by neck relief, saddle height, string gauge and humidity.
Truss rod
The truss rod adjusts neck relief, not the whole setup. Small adjustments can help, but forcing it or turning too far can cause damage. If you are unsure, ask us first.
Intonation
Intonation affects tuning accuracy higher up the neck. If open chords sound fine but notes around the 12th fret sound sharp or flat, intonation may need checking.
Fret buzz
Buzz can come from low action, a change in neck relief, old strings, heavy picking attack or environmental movement. It is not always a fault, but sudden or severe buzz should be checked.

Electric Guitar Intonation
Learn how intonation affects tuning accuracy across the fretboard, especially if chords sound in tune near the nut but sharp or flat higher up the neck.
Watch this if: the guitar seems in tune open, but not higher up the neck.

Watch this if: your strings are old, rusty, dull or slipping out of tune.
Common Guitar Care Topics
Humidity & temperature
Keep the guitar in a stable room. Sudden dryness, damp or heat can move the wood and affect action, tuning and finish.
Tuning stability
New strings stretch. Tune, gently stretch, then retune. Also check neat string winding and that machine heads are secure.
Cleaning
Use a soft microfibre cloth. Avoid household cleaners, sprays, solvents or anything abrasive on the finish or hardware.
Fretboard oil
Only use suitable oil on unfinished dark wood fretboards. Do not oil lacquered maple boards or over-soak any fretboard.
Electro-acoustic preamps
If the tuner or preamp weakens, cuts out or behaves strangely, replace the battery first before assuming a fault.
Storage
A case is best for long-term storage. Avoid hot cars, damp rooms, direct sunlight and places where the guitar may fall.
String gauge
Changing string gauge can change tension, action and neck relief. A setup check may be needed after a big gauge change.
Hardware checks
Occasionally check strap buttons, jack sockets and visible screws. If something is loose, stop using it and ask us.
When to Contact Lindo
Contact us before attempting major adjustment if the guitar arrived damaged, the neck looks twisted, the bridge, saddle or nut looks loose, the electronics are not working, buzzing is severe or sudden, or you are unsure about truss rod adjustment.
